DMF's Cultural Arts
Committee organizes
a wide variety of lectures,
concerts and other performances
for the community, most
of which take place
in the Powerhouse Community
Center. The
popular "First
Thursdays" series,
which includes a monthly
lecture or concert from
September through June
each year, sells out
each year. See below
for how to sign up for
the wait-list for First
Thursdays.
A
series of " Bluegrass
and Beyond" concerts,
co-produced with the
San Diego Bluegrass
Society, has brought
nationally-acclaimed
bluegrass musicians
to Del Mar over the
past several years. These
performances have included
The Infamous Stringdusters
(named Emerging Artists
of the Year by the International
Bluegrass Music Association);
Rob Ickes (9-time IBMA
Dobro Player of the
Year) and Joe Craven; two
IBMA Female Vocalist
of the Year award winners, Claire
Lynch and
Laurie Lewis; and the
instrumental trio Phillips,
Grier & Flinner,
with special guest Gabe
Witcher.

Cultural Arts Committee
meets on the Wednesday
following each of the
First Thursdays events,
from 8:30-10am in the
Powerhouse (upstairs).
